POETRY MIXTAPE

In 2006, Jermaine aka The 21st Century, (representing the number of letters in his full name), created the first of four poetry mixtapes in order to get a buzz for his upcoming first book, “The Revolutionary Movement.” Performing in front of strangers everywhere, Jermaine is always outspoken within his art form, with subject matters ranging from deceptive politics, to the harsh reality of the urban community, to empathy, anger, and activism. Full of knowledge of self, with the awareness of his gift and unlimited range, additionally, he has self-published children’s poetry. Jermaine showcased his skills at “Nuyorican Poets Cafe,” where his art form was not respected because of his fast-paced flow. The crowd of poets perceived this as a mockery, however his work was embraced by hip-hop crowds, such as 721 Productions. He performed in front of The Late Great “ DJ Kay Slay,” and self-published his first book, only to learn that his subject matters were ahead of his time. To this day, certain topics are so thought-provoking, prophetic and controversial, that the release of this body of work became too edgy. His truth and words on these mixtape tracks will leave you with chills, exposing all truth - speaking his mind on just about anything, hence, the reason his first book, through his own account, was disabled for release.
